Faubion's students read the book
"What Does Peace Feel Like?" and created different artworks around the theme of "peace". I love this book because it was written by children from all around the world, and it led to some insightful discussions about what peace means to my students. 2nd graders created bubble letter art, using colors and symbols that convey peace to them. When placed together, their art becomes a collaborative masterpiece which spells out "Peace and Love to Everyone", a message that is straight from the book we read :]
3rd graders learned about positive & negative space and chose to add expressive words or imagery into each. The students shared their creative ideas on peace both visually & through literacy. Using positive/negative space with imagery/words created an interesting balance in their art. Their thoughts on peace were really beautiful & inspiring!
