Faubion's 5th graders were introduced to Pop Art's Wayne Thiebaud & his beautiful dessert paintings. Click here to see super informative video about him & his art. After practicing how to draw a variety of cakes, we learned about how artists use value to make two-dimensional shapes appear three-dimensional. We blended black & white oil pastels to create highlights & shadows in the still life artwork. I not only love how realistic the cakes look, but how different each students' cake is! So much beautiful variety! You can see them on display near the 5th grade classrooms, but they might make you hungry :]
